Speaker Biography
Gloria Calhoun is a proven effective communicator, and problem-solver, with strong leadership and organizational skills, and a passion for empowering, encouraging, and helping others to succeed. Gloria’s life work has been advocating, serving, and supporting local communities, children and families.

Gloria earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and English from Jacksonville State University and master’s degrees in both teaching and leadership. She is a candidate for doctorate degree in leadership and management. She has received numerous awards and recognition for grassroots leadership and her work with Harvesting Scholars which has assisted dozens of students and individuals with achieving their educational and career goals. She is the author of ” Reap A Harvest: Helpful Tips For Aspiring College Students.” She is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), Southern Association of College Admissions (SACAC), Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and other professional organizations.

Gloria has served as Part-Time Faculty for the Geneva College Human Services Adult Degree program since 2015. She has taught numerous courses in Cultural Diversity, Intro to Human Services, Lifespan Human Development, Child & Family Policy, Professional Ethics, and Program Management & Development.

Gloria also has many years of experience as Director of Northwest Region at Quality Care for Children, Child Care Resource & Referral Services where she has served the community in non-profit leadership and management and corporate training. She serves the entire agency as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee Chair and Taskforce Lead.
